Other than the dragon and a couple pieces of foliage this project is 100% procedural. Houdini does most of the heavy lifting with the terrain, rocks, roots, and trees. I've made a quick breakdown on how the Houdini digital asset works (artstation compresses the heck out of large pictures, you can download a crisper version for free here: https://gum.co/kWEli ) All the textures are made with substance designer.
Still a bunch of things I could go over that aren't covered in the breakdown. I could make a video or a blog post to cover the dragon’s rig, substance designer graphs or UE4 materials if people are interested.
Might update this later with more stuff. Nice thing about it being procedural is I can make HUGE changes with very little time/effort.
I drew a lot of inspiration from Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings books for this project. If you’ve read them you can probably guess what this scene is based on.
